Amritsar, 5 January: A parsada (flat bread) making machine was offered by a devout family of the Guru’s house at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Shaheed Baba Deep Singh Ji today.

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, inaugurated the machine at the Langar Hall of Gurdwara Sahib. Earlier, Bhai Kulwinder Singh, granthi of Gurdwara Sahib, offered ardas (praye).

Speaking on the occasion S. Harjinder Singh Dham said that while the devotees pay homage to the Guru’s house with devotion, they feel fortunate to be able to offer the services to the best of their ability. He said that at Gurdwara Shaheed Ganj Baba Deep Singh Ji a large number of devotees pay obeisance and partake Parsada from Guru’s langar. He said that in view of the increasing influx of devotees, a devout family of the Guru’s house today offered a machine for making Parsada in the langar which produces about 4,000 parsadas in an hour.

On this occasion, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh honoured the devout family with the Guru’s blessing Siropao (robe of honour).

SGPC President congratulates Captain Harpreet Kaur Chandi, a British Sikh woman for her achievement

SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami congratulated Captain Harpreet Kaur Chandi, a Sikh woman officer serving in the British Army on her special achievement. Captain Harpreet Kaur has made history by completing a solo unsupported trec to the South Pole. She is the first Sikh woman in the world to achieve this. SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami wished the British Sikh woman all the best and wished her to achieve more.

SGPC President said, “Sikhs all over the world are shining the name of the Qaum (community) by making achievements in different countries. Whenever any great achievement is made by a Sikh, the head of the entire Qaum is raised with pride.”
