 Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, the religious representative body of Sikh Panth holds a remarkable place in the history of the world. This organization has always played an important role in preaching and broadcasting of Gurmat, upliftment of education level besides social welfare activities in the society. SGPC under the able administration of S. Avtar Singh has significantly contributed in the fields of Management, education, health, preaching of Sikhism and promotion of Khalsai Khedan (Traditional Martial Arts). SGPC has created a history in managing the administration of the Gurdwaras in an efficient and transparent manner, online maintenance of Accounts, celebrating historical centenaries in a befitting manner, construction of number of inns (Niwas), developing of Sri Guru Ram Das Institute of Medical Sciences and Research as world class medical institute and through setting up of Sri Guru Granth Sahib World University. S. Avtar Singh has also established the name of SGPC worldwide by initiating various welfare works for bailing out the suffering humanity due to Flood and earthquake like calamities. Helping the Cancer patients is another welfare measure of SGPC.

       To curb the menace of drug addiction and instilling moral values amongst youth of Punjab, S. Avtar Singh has initiated an ambitious plan of Preaching of Sikhism and heritage conservation. As per Sikh philosophy, Naam Simran increases mental concentration of human body, while awareness regarding the health is also equally important.In the traditional games wrestling, arms training, horse riding and spear fighting are the favorite games amongst the Sikhs. In order to bring awareness amongst the minds of the Sikh youth about the importance of good health in today’s hectic schedule, the endeavor of S. Avtar Singh to promote Kabaddi, the mother game of Punjabis is taking shape rapidly. By forming a team of Sabat Surat (a Sikh with full grown and uncut hair and beard) Sikh Kabaddi players, SGPC has made a unique attempt to establish this team as a role model for the youth of Punjab. This effort of SGPC is being admired worldwide.

       In accomplishing the task of forming a strong Kabaddi team of Sikh youths, S.Dalmegh Singh, Secretary, SGPC played an important role. This is also an admitted fact that forming a team of Sabat Surat Sikh players in the prevailing situation of ever increasing anti moral habits amongst youth in the Punjab, it was a demanding task to be accomplished. However, it was only due to the true spirit and dedication towards the Sikhism that encouraged the realization of this dream into reality. In a short period Sikh youths Kabaddi team marked its strong presence at state’s Kabaddi scenario. No doubt SGPC has already organized Khalsai Khedan at various places. On the occasion of historical centenaries, these games took a new shape due to the encouragement, dedication and hard work of S.Dalmegh Singh. On the centenary of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji, these games remained a centre of attraction of the whole event. The game spirit amongst the members of the team brought big laurels. SGPC’s Kabaddi team is all set to change the in coming days.
