Amritsar, January 5:  Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has taken stern notice of the social media posts defaming the Sikh community through Bulli Bai application and on Twitter. A letter has been written in this regard by the SGPC to the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar.

SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami while strongly condemning this deplorable act of defaming Sikhs, has also demanded from the government to take strict action against such persons.

S. Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the Sikh Qaum (community) always respect the women following the path shown by the Sikh Gurus (masters), and the powers that want to defame the Sikhs are not able to digest the glorious tradition of this community and the nature of respect for everyone.

“Recently, with the same malice, some posts defaming the Muslim women on Bulli Bai application have been shared by some people on social media platforms including Twitter on fake accounts bearing Sikh names to defame Sikhs. Although some people were arrested in this case of the Bulli Bai app, every person who attempted to defame Sikhs should be exposed”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

He said that the SGPC has written a letter to the Commissioner of Police, Amritsar to take action in this case through cyber crime cell.

“People who had shared unethical posts by making fake social media accounts with Sikh names should not be spared”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

Notably, in the case of Bulli Bai app, two accused persons Vishal Kumar and Shweta Singh were arrested from Udham Singh Nagar in Uttarakhand and Bengaluru in Karnataka by the Mumbai police. According to the media reports, in the preliminary investigation, the police said that the accused had misused Sikh names like ‘Khalsa Supremacist’, ‘Jattkhalsa7’, ‘Justice For Sikhs’, and others on Twitter and other digital platforms and made a deplorable attempt to defame Sikhs.
