Complaint lodged to Police commissioner for taking action against accused person: S. Harjinder Singh Dhami

Amritsar, January 15:

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has strongly condemned and demanded action against Rajasthan-based man who distorted holy Gurbani by adding his name to a verse and posted it on his social media page. The deplorable act has come to light on a Facebook page namely ‘Swami Brahmdevji Maharaj Ganganagar Wale’, which has caused protest among the Sikh Sangat.

SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami has condemned this act and demanded action against accused person.

“The disrespect of holy Gurbani cannot be tolerated and nobody has the right to distort Gurbani. A Sri Ganganagar, Rajasthan based Swami Brahmdev has made a posted on his Facebook and presented the Gurbani after distorting it in his own style, which can never be tolerated”, said S. Harjinder Singh Dhami.

He said that the SGPC has lodged a complaint to Amritsar commissioner of police for taking action in this regard.

SGPC President said that action should be taken against the concerned person after registering a case of hurting religious sentiments.

SGPC President expressed concern that the religious sentiments of Sikhs are often hurt and Sikh doctrines are also being tampered with on social media.

“Such acts are being done deliberately and sadly no concrete action is taken against the people doing this even after complaints. Such people should be given exemplary punishment so that no one would dare play with religious sentiments”, said S. Harjinder Singh Dhami.
