SGPC set up wards for treatment of Covid-19 patients at Gurdwaras ; Oxygen plant ready at Guru Ramdas Medical College, to deliver services in one week: Bibi Jagir Kaur

Amritsar May 4: For the treatment of Covid-19 patients, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has decided to set-up an oxygen plant as well as provide services through oxygen concentrators. Giving information about this, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that to fight against Covid-19 in present times, SGPC has established an oxygen plant at Guru Ramdas Medical College, Amritsar, which would be operational in one week. “For this purpose, the permission has been taken from the Centre government and as per the conditions of the government, two big generators have also been purchased”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur. She said that SGPC is also making efforts to prepare oxygen from air as well. “For the same, a devotee from America has provided 200 oxygen concentrators. SGPC would also purchase the oxygen concentrators itself depending on the requirement”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur. SGPC president said that Sri Guru Ramdas Hospital has already been reserved for the Covid-19 patients, with the facility of 200 beds and 37 ventilators. “Now, after seeing the increasing number of Covid-19 cases, 25 beds temporary ward facility is being arranged at the Diwan Hall of Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir; and 25 beds facility at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib. Here oxygen would be provided to the patients through concentrators and in case of emergency, medical ambulance would also be deputed so that the patients can be shifted to the hospital. The medical teams would work in these wards in two shifts”, said SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur. On this occasion the SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh, chief secretary Adv Harjinder Singh Dhami, executive member S. Satwinder Singh Tohra, S. Ajmer Singh Khera, S. Jarnail Singh Dogranwala, S. Charanjit Singh Kalewal, Bibi Paramjit Kaur Landran, Bibi Kiranjot Kaur, additional secretary S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Sukhminder Singh, S. Partap Singh, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, OSD to SGPC president Dr Amrik Singh Latifpur, Dr Sukhbir Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal and others were present.
