SGPC establishes Covid Care Ward for treatment of Covid-19 patients at Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir

Oxygen would be availed to patients with concentrators especially imported from Russia: Bibi Jagir Kaur Amritsar, May 6: Taking an initiative at the most need of the hour when the government is struggling to fulfill the demand of oxygen and hospital beds for Covid-19 patients, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has started establishing the Covid Care Wards at its Gurdwaras with the facility of providing oxygen through specially imported concentrators. A 25-bedded ward has been established by the SGPC for the treatment of Covid-19 patients at the Diwan Hall of Gurdwara Manji Sahib, Alamgir, Ludhiana, which was inaugurated by SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur on Thursday, who reached there on a special visit. Talking on this occasion, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that for the Covid-19 patients the SGPC has made arrangements of 100-beds each in advance at Sri Guru Ramdas Medical Institute of Medical Sciences and Research, Sri Amritsar and Sri Guru Ramdas Charitable Hospital. “In the present time, when the Covid-19 patients are facing problems due to shortage of oxygen, this Covid Care Ward has been established by the SGPC. In this ward, oxygen would be provided to the Covid-19 patients with the help of oxygen concentrators especially imported from Russia. In case of any emergency, the arrangement of ambulances would be here so that the patients could be shifted to hospital if required”, said SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur. She said that for taking care of the Covid-19 patients, the medical teams would work in two shifts in this ward. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the representative organisation of the Sikh Panth, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, always strives to work for the Sarbat Da Bhala (welfare of all), while walking on the path shown by the Gurus. “Very soon, we are going to establish similar Covid Care Wards of 25-beds each as per requirement at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib, Jalandhar, Patiala and Bholath and other cities. All these services would be free of cost, and the patients would be taken care by the doctors and staff of Sri Guru Ramdas University of Health Sciences”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur. Meanwhile, on this occasion, Akali leader S. Darshan Singh Shivalik, S. Ranjeet Singh Dhillon, SGPC member S. Rajinder Singh Mehta, S. Gurcharan Singh Garewal, S. Raghbir Singh Saharan Majra, S. Harpal Singh Jallah, S. Charan Singh Alamgir, SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee member S. Pritpal Singh, Dean of Sri Guru Ramdas University of Health Sciences Dr. AP Singh and manager S. Gurbaksh Singh and others were present.
