Guru Hargobind Sahib's Guruship Day celebrated at Sri Akal Takht Sahib

Grandeur decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Baba Atal Rai Sahib Amritsar, June 2: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) celebrated the Guruship Day of the Sixth King, Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib Ji with devotion and respect at Sri Akal Takht Sahib on Wednesday. In this connection, after the bhog of Sri Akhandpath Sahib, hazuri raagi group of Bhai Jarnail Singh Koharka of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, performed Gurbani Kirtan and Bhai Prem Singh offered prayers. During the function, Sri Harmandar Sahib head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh, Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh congratulated the sangat (devotees) on the Guruship Day of the sixth King and urged them to follow the path shown by the Guru. Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said, “After the martyrdom of the fifth King, Guru Arjan Dev Ji, the sixth King Sri Guru Hargobind Sahib established Sri Akal Takht Sahib, the highest shrine representing independent Sikh thinking for the unique existence and identity of the Sikh community. Guru Sahib fought four wars against oppression and instilled in humanity the passion to fight for rights and truth. This sentiment needs to be inculcated in today's youth.” On this occasion Giani Jagtar Singh said that Guru Sahib Ji has incomparable blessings to the Sikh community and today the community should take guidance from its history and adopt Bani and Baani (Gurbani and traditional Sikh attire). Meanwhile, jalau (grandeur) were also decorated at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and Gurdwara Baba Atal Rai Sahib dedicated to the Guruship Day of the sixth King. During the function, SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, chief secretary Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, executive member S. Satwinder Singh Tohra, head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Bhai Gurmukh Singh, additional head granthi Bhai Malkit Singh, secretary Mahinder Singh Ahli, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, Partap Singh, assistant secretary Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Sakatar Singh, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Sulakhan Singh Bhangali, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, and others were present.
