The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee organized a function on the death anniversary of Sher-E-Punjab Maharaja Ranjit Singh at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall associated with Sri Darbar Sahib.
After the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the group of hazuri raagi Bhai Kawaldeep Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, connected the Sangat (devotees) with Gurbani Kirtan and Bhai Sultan Singh offered ardas (prayer).
After reciting the holy hukamnama, kathawachak Bhai Harmitar Singh of Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib, shared his views with the sangat and recalled the golden pages of the vast Sikh state established by Maharaja Ranjit Singh.
On this occasion, SGPC senior vice-president Surjit Singh Bhitewad said the Sher-e-Punjab established a Sikh state with its foresight and Maharaja Ranjit Singh used to help people of all religions in his kingdom.
Meanwhile, SGPC general secretary Bhagwant Singh Sialka paid homage to Maharaja Ranjit Singh for his Sewa (voluntary service) to the Sikh shrines.
SGPC chief secretary Harjinder Singh Dhami said, “In the Sikh state established by Maharaja Ranjit Singh, everyone had the right to religious freedom. Maharaja Ranjit Singh always gives strength to the entire Sikh community.”
On this occasion, Dharam Prachar Committee member Ajaib Singh Abhayasi, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, assistant secretaries Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Tejinder Singh Padda, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, Sulakhan Singh Bhangali, Gurmeet Singh Buttar, Sukhbir Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Beharwal, Baghel Singh and others were present.
