Martyrdom Day of Shaheed Bhai Taru Singh Ji observed at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib

Amritsar, July 16: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) observed the ‘Shaheedi Diharha’ (martyrdom day) of Bhai Taru Singh, the great martyr of the Sikh community, with devotion at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on Friday. After the culmination (bhog) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, hazuri raagi jatha of Bhai Jagdeep Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib connected the Sangat (devotees) with Gurbani Kirtan, and Bhai Sukhdev Singh offered the ardas (prayer). Sharing his views on this occasion, Bhai Harmitar Singh, kathawachak of Gurdwara Manji Sahib informed the Sangat about the history of Shaheed Bhai Taru Singh. “The life of the great martyr Bhai Taru Singh is a source of inspiration for us. Bhai Taru Singh Ji, an unsung and devout Sikh, followed the path shown by the Gurus and stood for Sikh faith with his hair and breath. The life of Bhai Taru Singh is an example from which the youth should take inspiration”, said Bhai Harmitar Singh. Meanwhile, SGPC member Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna appealed to the Sangat and especially the youth to take guidance from the life of Shaheed Bhai Taru Singh and remain firm in the Sikh form and receive the blessings of Guru Sahib by taking Amrit (get initiated). Apart from SGPC Bhai Manjit Singh, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, Partap Singh, manager Sri Darbar Sahib Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, assistant secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Nirvail Singh, Sukhbir Singh, manager Baghel Singh, additional manager Iqbal Singh Mukhi, Nishan Singh and the Sangat were present.
