Preparations completed for centenary programmes of Saka Sri Nankana Sahib - Bibi Jagir Kaur

Amritsar, February 18: Preparations have been completed by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) for the grand centenary programmes of Saka Nankana Sahib at Godharpur village in Gurdaspur district, said SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur. After discussing with the office bearers, members and officials of the SGPC regarding the programmes, Bibi Jagir Kaur said that the main function would be held at Godharpur village belonging to the family of Shaheed Bhai Lachhman Singh Dharowali who led the Jatha during the Saka Nankana Sahib. She said that prominent personalities of the Sikh Panth will be in attendance of the events at Godharpur. She said that Sri Akhand Path Sahib would commence on February 19 and on the same day besides the function of Sukhmani Sahib Seva Societies, there would be Gurbani Kirtan and turban competitions. A Women's Gurmat Sammelan dedicated to Mata Tej Kaur and Mata Inder Kaur will be held on February 20, said the SGPC president. The main function will be held on February 21 after the bhog of Sri Akhand Path Sahib from 10:00 am to 3:30 pm. Bibi Jagir Kaur said that apart from the famous raagis, dhaddi (ballad singers) and kavishar jathas (poetry groups), Singh Sahibs, leaders of various sampradas (branches) and panthic personalities would share their views with the sangat during these programmes. She appealed to the sangat to pay homage and respect to their great martyrs by participating in these ceremonies. On this occasion among others members Bhai Manjit Singh Bhurakohna, S. Harpal Singh Jalla, S. Gurmeet Singh Booh, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Sukhminder Singh, S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, OSD Amrik Singh, Dr Sukhbir Singh, superintendent Malkit Singh Baherwal were present.
