Amritsar, June 25:

On the occasion of martyrdom day of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, the great General of the Sikh Qaum (nation), the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today organised a Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall in Amritsar.

After the bhog (concluding ceremony) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, the Gurbani Kirtan was performed by hazuri raagi jatha (Gurbani singing group) of Bhai Mahandeep Singh of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib. Ardas (prayer) was offered by Bhai Baljit Singh and the holy hukamnama was recited by Bhai Harmitar Singh, katha wachak (narrator) of Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.

Meanwhile, sharing Gurmat (teachings of Sikh Gurus) views with the Sangat, Bhai Harmitar Singh also shared the incomparable history of martyrdom of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar.

He said that Baba Banda Singh Bahadar was the General, who established the Sikh Raj (rule) and attained the honour of become first Sikh Badshah (ruler).

Speaking about the life history of Baba Banda Singh Bahadar, SGPC additional secretary (AS) S. Partap Singh said that he was the founder of Sikh Raj, who established this rule by finishing the tyrants and minted the coins of Khalsa Raj.
