Children who stood first, second & third positions honoured with bicycles

Granthi Singhs should give Gurmat training to children at Gurdwara Sahibs daily: Giani Harpreet Singh

Mansa, June 30: Honouring ceremony was organised today at Gurdwara Bhai Behlo Ji, Phaphre Bhaike on the conclusion of one-month long Gurmat Training Camps organised to connect the children with Gurmat (teachings of Sikh Gurus) in different villages of Joga constituency in Mansa district, with the initiative of area member of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) S. Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar.

Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Harpreet Singh especially attended this event.

In his address on this occasion, Giani Harpreet Singh said that there is a great need for organising such camps to connect the children with the Sikh faith, so that the children could be made aware of their history and heritage.

Congratulating the Granthi Singhs for their cooperation in the camps, Giani Harpreet Singh said that if every Granthi Singh conducts daily Gurmat classes for the children inside Gurdwara Sahibs then next generation can easily be made firm in Sikh principles.

Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh encouraged the Sangat (congregation) to plant maximum saplings of trees for a clean and green environment while sharing the information about the importance of the clean environment.

Appreciating the initiatives taken by SGPC member S. Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Jathedar said that such camps play an important role in imparting Gurmat among the youth and children.

Before this, SGPC member S. Gurpreet Singh welcomed Giani Harpreet Singh and prominent personalities and specially thanked the Granthi Singhs, area residents and children for participating in the camps.

The children who participated in the Gurmat Training Camps were divided into three groups i.e. Class I to VI, Class VII to X, and children above Class XI.

Written examination of the children who secured top positions in all three groups were conducted today, of which, each of the nine children who stood first, were honoured with bicycles as prize by Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh, Head Granthi of Takht Sri Damdama Sahib Giani Phoola Singh, SGPC member S. Gurpreet Singh and prominent personalities.

Moreover, about 3,500 children who participated in the camps were also honoured with medals, certificates of appreciation and saplings. The Granthi Singhs who cooperated during the camps were awarded cash prizes in the event.

On this occasion, the talent of Gatka (Sikh martial arts) was presented by the team of Baba Fateh Singh Gatka Akhara, Talwandi Sabo.

Different types of Langar were organised by  S. Mahanbir Singh and Dr. Harvir Singh, both of Canada, managing director of Sardar Industry S. Roop Singh and Dashmesh Committee.

The stage management was conducted by Bhai Sarabjit Singh Dhotian, head preacher.

Those present on this occasion included S. Hardev Singh, President of local gurdwara management committee, S. Gurmail Singh Phaphre district president Shiromani Akali Dal, manager S. Ajaib Singh Joga, in-charge S. Bhola Singh, Principal Jaswinder Singh, inspector Gurcharan Singh, Bibi Paramjit Kaur, Bibi Manjit Kaur, Bibi Gurmeet Kaur, Baba Gurjant Singh, S. Mohandeep Singh. S. Sohan Singh and a large number of Sangat.
