Amritsar, October 31:

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami today returned to India from Pakistan, after participating in 100 year centenary congregations of Shaheedi Saka (martyrdom massacre) of Panja Sahib.

On his arrival here, Harjinder Singh Dhami said that in Pakistan, the Sangat (pilgrims) from country and abroad expressed their devotion by participating in congregations organised on the occasion of centenary of Saka Panja Sahib. He said that the Kirtan Samagam organised at the railway station of Hasan Abdal, where this massacre took place on October 30, 1922, is historical. He said all the events related to the centenary of Saka Panja Sahib have remained memorable.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said yesterday they paid obeisance at Gurdwara Nankana Sahib, the birthplace of Guru Nanak Dev, and several affairs were discussed with local Sikh leaders. He said at Nankana Sahib, Baba Jagtar Singh Kar Sewa is developing a big hall for accommodation, which will provide great convenience to the pilgrims, once it is complete.

On behalf of SGPC, Harjinder Singh Dhami assured Pakistan Sikh Sangat of every possible support in the services of the Guru’s house. He said that the governments should play their role in the work to be done on their part, while the Sikh organisations are committed to do their assigned work.

Those who returned with SGPC President included SGPC executive member Sarvan Singh, member Bhai Rajinder Singh, Ajmer Singh, Bhai Pritpal Singh, additional secretary Balwinder Singh, in-charge Yatra Department Rajinder Singh. The rest members of SGPC jatha will return to India on November 1.

As per the information from Dharam Prachar Committee secretary Balwinder Singh and Yatra in-charge Rajinder Singh, on their return, SGPC President, some members and officials of SGPC paid obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib, Chuna Mandi, Lahore, the birthplace of Guru Ramdas, the fourth Sikh Guru, where they were honoured with Siropaos (robes of honour) by the management. SGPC President shared his views with the Sangat at the birthplace of the fourth Sikh Guru.

Rajinder Singh said that SGPC President honoured Rai Saleem Bhatti, descendant of Nawab Rai Bular Bhatti at Nankana Sahib, who could not attend the recent SGPC ceremony when Rai Bular’s portrait was displayed at the Central Sikh Museum at Sri Darbar Sahib, Amritsar. Former SGPC President Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal was also present while Bhatti was honoured.
