-SGPC General Secretary writes letter to RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat

Amritsar, November 15:
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) General Secretary Bhai Gurcharan Singh Grewal today wrote a letter to Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Shri Mohan Bhagwat, asking to him to stop unnecessary interference of RSS and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) into Sikh affairs.
In a letter written on the foundation day of SGPC, Bhai Grewal wrote in strict words that
SGPC came into existence after great sacrifices and the struggle started for its establishment laid the foundation for the country’s independence.
“But sadly, BJP ruled Centre government and BJP leaders are interfering directly to complicate SGPC affairs. An example of this interference came to fore during annual election of office-bearers of SGPC on November 9”, said Bhai Grewal.
He said that BJP (political wing of RSS) ruled Indian government, BJP ruled Haryana government and BJP leaders on constitutional posts, directly interfered in SGPC election.
This organisation has completed its 102-year glorious journey, during which it has done exemplary work for managing Gurdwara Sahibs, as well as for preaching of Sikh faith, health-education and humanitarian work. SGPC has also responsibly pursued Sikh issues time and again.
Bhai Grewal wrote to Bhagwat that, “If it (interference) is happening without your knowledge then you should immediately intervene and if it is with your knowledge then it is the right time for your organisation (RSS) to think upon your ideological approach as this is creating a rift in mutual religious relations in this multi-cultural and multi-religious society, which I fear will deepen in future. This phenomenon will create instability in the minds of Sikhs which is not good for the country.”
He said that path on which RSS and it’s political wing BJP are walking, the anti-Sikh Congress class used to interfere in such manner.
Today, on the historical Foundation Day of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar we suggest you that the Rashtriya Swayansevak Sangh and the BJP should stop interfering in Sikh issues.
We hope that you will think deeply about this and stay away from the activities of the Sikh organisations and the activities that complicate the issues of Sikhs in the future.
In his letter, Bhai Grewal said SGPC has completed its 102-year long glorious journey, during which it has done exemplary work for managing Gurdwara Sahibs, as well as for preaching of Sikh faith, health-education and humanitarian work.
He said during its century-long history, the SGPC has never interfered with into affairs of any religion/belief and has worked for Sarbat Da Bhala (welfare of all).
SGPC General Secretary suggested that RSS and BJP should stop interference into Sikh affairs and it should deeply think over its approach besides refraining from getting involved in the activities done to complicate Qaumi (community’s) issues.
