Amritsar, November 1: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami today held a meeting with the member-in-charges appointed for various departments of SGPC and discussed to run the management more smoothly in future. These members-in-charges were appointed as per the decision taken in the general house session of SGPC on November 9.
In this first meeting with member-in-charges, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami urged them to carry out the work related to the preaching Sikh faith, langars (community kitchen) of Gurdwara Sahibs, Sangat sarais (inns), constructions, education and legal issues more efficiently and submit the report from time to time. He said the responsibilities given for the work of various departments should be carried out according to the sentiments of Sangat and priorities of the present time, and necessary suggestions should be given besides doing regular monitoring.
Giving more information, Harjinder Singh Dhami said that the member-in-charges appointed for the evaluation of the administrative affairs of the SGPC will review the work related to their respective departments and submit report. “In a meeting with all the member-in-charges, necessary recommendations will be implemented as per their reports”, said SGPC President.
He also said that as part of the struggle started by the SGPC for the release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh political prisoners), discussions have also been held about starting a signature campaign from December 1, 2022. He said that necessary proformas have been prepared in this regard, which will be filled by visiting different districts, villages, towns and cities. Special camps would also be organized in this regard and after completing the process of filling the proforma, they will be presented to the Governor of Punjab.
About intensifying Dharam Prachar (Sikh faith propagation), SGPC President said parties of preachers and volunteers will be dispatched under house to house campaign as per modern priorities. He said information will be conveyed to the people about Sikh history and Rehat Maryada (Sikh code of conduct) through religious diwans (congregations) as well as dialogue method.
Harjinder Singh Dhami said the decision taken in the recent past about the International Sikh Advisory Board will also be implemented soon and Sikh representatives from different countries will be taken for its formation.
