Amritsar, February 23: The newly constructed building of Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Dera Baba Nanak, the historical site associated with Sri Guru Nanak Dev, the first Guru was inaugurated as per the Panthak traditions today. The religious congregation was organised while enshrining Sri Guru Granth Sahib in the newly constructed building of Gurdwara Sahib and a large number of Panthak personalities attended the event.

Speaking on the occasion, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this historical site associated with the first Guru is of great importance in the Sikh faith and presently, with the opening of Sri Kartarpur Sahib Corridor, the Sangat from across the world are visiting here to pay their obeisance. Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Dera Baba Nanak falls on the way to Sri Kartarpur Sahib.

Advocate Dhami said that the SGPC is committed to the convenience of the Sangat and under this, the new building of Gurdwara Sahib was constructed. He thanked Baba Sewa Singh Khadur Sahib for Kar Sewa (voluntary service) of constructing the Gurdwara Sahib and appreciated his Panthic services.

During the event, Baba Sewa Singh, head of Kar Sewa Khadur Sahib, thanked all the Sangat and dignitaries who had assisted him during the Kar Sewa. On this occasion, various personalities were honoured with Siropoas (robe of honours). Meanwhile, the Kar Sewa of the historical well, where Guru Nanak Dev Ji had stayed was also started.
