Nagar Kirtan from Akal Takht Sahib
Amritsar, November 7:
Dedicated to Prakash Gurpurb (birth anniversary) of Guru Nanak Dev, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) with support of Sabha Societies and Sangat organised a nagar kirtan (religious procession) from Akal Takht Sahib on Monday.
Head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami were present among the prominent personalities on this occasion. A large number of Sangat participated in the nagar kirtan and expressed their devotion by singing praises of the Guru. The devotees had set up different types of langars (community kitchen foods) on the route of nagar kirtan. The parties of school students, band, gatka (Sikh martial arts) participated in the nagar kirtan with enthusiasm.

Harjinder Singh Dhami congratulate Sangat on Prakash Gurpurb
SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami congratulated the Sikh world on the occasion of Prakash Gurpurb of Guru Nanak Dev Ji and urged to follow the teachings of Guru. On the occasion of participating in nagar kirtan organised at Sri Harmandar Sahib, Harjinder Singh Dhami said that Guru Nanak Dev freed humanity from caste discrimination by teaching equality and universal communion. He said the Guru set a unique path in the religious history of the world with his teaching of Naam Japo (remember Akal Purakh), Kirat Karo (earn honest livelihood), and Vand Chhako (share).
He said the Gurbani teachings are a source of inspiration for a happy life and it is the duty of all to live by following the same.
