S. Harjinder Singh calls for marking June 6 Shaheedi Samagam with Qaumi unity

The holy saroop (scripture) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib injured with bullet during the army attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib by Congress Government of India in June 1984 will be again shown to the Sangat this year to have darshan (glimpse) from June 2 to 5. This holy saroop was displayed in public for the first time last year (2021).
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh said that the army attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib in June 1984 has become an everlasting part of the Sikh psyche and every year, with start of June month, these wounds of Sikh Qaum (community/nation) starts oozing.
He said that during this army attack, the holy saroop enshrined/adorned at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib were injured with a bullet and the Sangat will have their Darshan (glimpse). “This holy saroop will be adorned at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Gurbakhsh Singh near Sri Akal Takht Sahib from June 2 to 5”, said S. Harjinder Singh. The Sangat will have the opportunity to do the Darshan from morning to evening during these four days.
Meanwhile, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh appealed to mark the Shaheedi Samagam (martyrdom congregation) on June 6 with Qaumi (community’s/nation’s) unity to offer tributes and respect to the martyrs of June 1984 army attack on Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and Sri Akal Takht Sahib by the then Congress Government.
He said that this day is an unforgettable tragedy for the Sikh community and seriousness and gentleness are very important while paying tributes and respect to the martyrs on this occasion. He called upon all the Sikh jathebandis (organisations) and the Sangat to mark the Shaheedi Samagam with Panthak unity on June 6.
