Amritsar, March 15:
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami strongly condemned the incident of beadbi (sacrilege) of Sri Guru Granth Sahib at Maddo Majra village in Patiala district.
Advocate Dhami said Sri Guru Granth Sahib is supreme for the Sikhs and its beadbi can never be tolerated by a Sikh. He said some anti-Panth people play with sentiments of Sikhs but the police administration save its skin by terming the accused persons arrested in cases of beadbi as mentally ill.
He said after receiving the information about the incident at Maddo Majra village, SGPC member S. Jarnail Singh Kartarpur, manager of Gurdwara Dukhniwaran Sahib Patiala S. Bhagwant Singh, and head granthi Giani Pranam Singh visited the spot.
“As per the information received, a person of the same village has attempted to commit beadbi of Sri Guru Granth Sahib, who was nabbed by the Sangat and handed over to the police”, said Advocate Dhami.
SGPC President said the accused arrested in the incident is presently in police custody and he should be interrogated strictly so that the forces working behind these incidents can be identified. He warned the government to strictly deal with the persons committing beadbi of Gurbani so that such incidents are not committed in the future.
