Condolence gathering held at SGPC office, office closed in afternoon
Amritsar, July 11: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh expressed deep grief over the demise of SGPC’s former Dharam Prachar Committee member Jathedar Ratan Singh Jaffarwal and offered condolences to his family.
Jathedar Ratan Singh Jaffarwal also served as member of Sikh Itihas Research Board from 1996 to 2004. Presently, his wife, Bibi Jasbir Kaur Jaffarwal is SGPC member from Dhariwal constituency.
Remembering the services rendered by Jathedar Jaffarwal, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh said that he was a Taksali Akali leader, who dedicated his entire life to the Panth. He participated in the Akali Morchas, Emergency, Dharam Yudh Morcha, and was jailed for several times.
S. Harjinder Singh said that the demise of Jathedar Jaffarwal has caused unbearable loss to the Panth.
Meanwhile, a condolence gathering was also held at SGPC office, and tributes were offered to Jathedar Jaffarwal. On this occasion, recitation of Mool Mantra and Gur Mantra was done and for the peace of the departed soul, ardas (prayer) was offered by Bhai Prem Singh.
During the condolence gathering, those present included SGPC additional secretary S. Paramjit Singh, S. Partap Singh, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh, S. Balwinder Singh, S. Gurcharan Singh, S. Paramjit Singh, superintendent S. Malkeet Singh, and the staff of SGPC and Dharam Prachar Committee. The SGPC offices were kept closed for half a day.
