S. Harjinder Singh hands over cheques of pending amount to heads of institutions

Amritsar, May 18:

An amount of about Rs 25 crore has been released for the pending salaries of staff of educational institutions functional under the management of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC). Of the total disbursed amount, SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh handed over cheques of about Rs 13.63 crore to heads and principals of different schools and colleges on Tuesday.

On this occasion, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh said due to COVID-19 pandemic and non-payment of SC Scholarship by the government, different educational institutions under the management of SGPC were facing financial crisis, therefore, the salaries of the staff members were pending.

He said the salaries of 29 colleges and 44 schools under the management of SGPC were pending, of which, an amount of about Rs 9 crore 72 lakh 12 thousand has been disbursed to the staff of nine colleges. Similarly, Rs 4 crore 91 lakh 53 thousand has been disbursed to the staff of 19 schools.

SGPC President said that the cheques of pending salaries of the staff of the remaining schools and colleges are also ready, and will be handed over to the educational institutions soon. On this occasion, he appealed to the heads and principals to pay special attention towards the admission of students in their respective educational institutions and make efforts to make their institutions self-reliant.

Those present on this occasion included SGPC junior vice-president Principal Surinder Singh, SGPC executive committee member S. Gurinderpal Singh, S. Balwinder Singh, S. Harjap Singh, members Bhai Gurcharan Singh, S. Surjit Singh, S. Avtar Singh, S. Gurnam Singh, additional secretary S. Sukhminder Singh, deputy director education Bibi Satwant Kaur, in-charge education S. Karaj Singh and principals and heads of different colleges and schools.
