Amritsar, October 25: After being announced as the candidate for the post of president for the annual election of office-bearers of the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC), SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami thanked the Shiromani Akali Dal and all the SGPC members and strongly criticized the mischievous conspiracies to take control of the Sikh body by anti-Panth forces at the behest of the government.

Talking to the media at the SGPC office, Harjinder Singh said that the anti-Panth forces are plotting to take control of the management of the Sikh body that came into existence after many sacrifices, which the Khalsa Panth needs to be aware of with unity.

Harjinder Singh said that Sikhs have seen very difficult times in history, but it has never happened that attempts are being made to bribe the SGPC members with money to influence the election of SGPC office-bearers. He said that the BJP, Congress, AAP, RSS and anti-Panth forces are making various efforts to make SGPC members vote against the candidate of Akali Dal by directly interfering in the SGPC office-bearers election. He said that people associated with BJP are also trying to help one faction. Giving examples of Sikh bodies such as Takht Sri Patna Sahib, Takht Sri Hazur Sahib, Delhi and Haryana Gurdwara committees, Harjinder Singh said that these Sikh organizations are already being managed by the BJP and RSS with government intervention and now, efforts are being made by the opponents of Panth to control the Takhts in Punjab and representative Sikh body, SGPC, as per their own wishes.

The SGPC President urged the Khalsa Panth and all the SGPC members to unite and be aware of the tactics of the anti-Panth forces. Reacting to being called a weak President in the past, Harjinder Singh said that he believes in serving under the fear and humility as blessed by the Guru and if anyone takes it as weakness, it may be their own intellectuality. He said that he cannot give up his nature and respect everyone. The SGPC President thanked all the members for resolutely responding to the anti-Panth forces and for remaining unwavering and representing the spirit of the community.

On this occasion, apart from SGPC President, SGPC general secretary Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, former President Alvinderpal Singh Pakhoke, member Surjit Singh Bhittewad, Gurbachan Singh Karmunwala, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Baljit Singh Jalal Usman, Amarjit Singh Bandala, Bawa Singh Gumanpura, Amrik Singh Vichhoa, Gurinderpal Singh Gora, Gurnam Singh Jassal, Amarjit Singh Bhaliapur, Harjap Singh Sultanwind, Bhai Ram Singh, Mangwinder Singh Khaparkheri, Baba Nirmal Singh Naushehra Dhala, Surjit Singh Tughalwal, Bibi Jasbir Kaur Jaffarwal,  Sukhwarsh Singh Pannu, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami, secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, assistant secretary Jaswinder Singh Jassi, Shahbaz Singh, superintendent Nishan Singh and others were present.
