Amritsar, April 15:
The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the arrest of Advocate Rajdeep Singh by the National Investigation Agency (NIA). He said that information has been received that Advocate Rajdeep Singh has been arrested for sharing Amritpal Singh’s social media posts, which is directly against human rights and freedom of expression. He said that it is not logical in any way to arrest a person who did not commit any crime.
The SGPC President said that when Amritpal Singh was expressing his views up to the recent past days, the government and the police administration were silent, so arresting common people now for sharing Singh’s posts raises questions. He said that the arrest of Advocate Rajdeep Singh is extremely unfortunate, about which the government should think seriously. He said that Advocate Rajdeep Singh should be released immediately and such actions should not be taken, which would create an atmosphere of fear among the people.
