Amritsar, December 14: The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has welcomed the registration of Sikhs as a separate community in the census form in Pakistan.

Appreciating the efforts of those Sikhs, who worked hard for this task, SGPC President said that it is a matter of happiness for the entire community that the Sikhs have been recognized as a separate community in Pakistan after a long period.

Harjinder Singh Dhami said that this would benefit the Sikhs living in Pakistan for getting basic rights and representation in various institutions and would also bring clarity about the exact number of Sikhs in the country.

SGPC President said that the Sikhs have achieved great positions across the world with their distinct identity and it is important for every country to accept Sikhs with their identity.
