Amritsar, January 6:

Bhog (concluding ceremony) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib (uninterrupted recitation of Guru Granth Sahib) was today organised on the occasion of the martyrdom anniversary of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh and Shaheed Bhai Kehar Singh at Gurdwara Jhanda Bunga Sahib situated inside complex of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Darbar Sahib.

Jatha (group) of hazuri raagi Bhai Gurdev Singh of Sri Harmandar Sahib connected the Sangat (congregation) with Gurbani Kirtan. Ardas (Sikh prayer) was offered by Bhai Baljit Singh and the holy hukamnama was recited by Giani Gurminder Singh.

Addressing the Sangat on this occasion, Giani Gurminder Singh said that the martyrs are the wealth of Qaum (community), and remembering them is our responsibility. He said the then Congress Government had demolished Sri Akal Takht Sahib in the military attack and a large number of innocent devotees were massacred.

These are great martyrs of the community, who will always be remembered”, said Giani Gurminder Singh.

During this congregation, Bhai Waryam Singh, brother of Shaheed Bhai Satwant Singh, and Bibi Gurpreet Singh from the family of Bhai Kehar Singh and others were honoured with the Guru’s blessing Siropao (robe of honour) by Giani Gurminder Singh, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) members, and officials.
