Amritsar, December 9: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned incident of burning effigy of Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Takht Sri Patna Sahib.
He said this is disrespect to highly respected position of the Sikh community.
He said no true Sikh can do such an act because Sri Akal Takht Sahib is the highest temporal authority of Sikh community. He said that the Panj Singhs (five high priests) have seriously taken up the ongoing dispute regarding the management board of Takht Sri Harmandar Ji Patna Sahib and its Jathedar.
Harjinder Singh Dhami said it is the duty of every Sikh to adhere to edict of Sri Akal Takht Sahib and those who disobey the decison of this highest temporal authority of Sikhs and disrespect honourable Jathedar cannot be true Sikhs.
SGPC President said incident of burning effigy of Jathedar of Akal Takht Sahib is extremely unfortunate. He said that those who have disrespected the dignified personality of the Sikh community by committing such an act should apologize immediately.
