Main congregation to be held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib on October 1

Amritsar, September 30-

The two-day events related to the 150-Year centenary of the foundation of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Movement by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) began today with a special Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall.

In the opening ceremony, SGPC junior vice-president  Avtar Singh Raya, members Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Surjit Singh Bhittewad and a large number of students from different schools also participated. In the congregation, students of Shaheed Sikh Missionary College, Amritsar performed Gurbani Kirtan and students of different schools narrated the glorious saga of Sikh history through Gurbani Kirtan, speech, poetry and ballads.

Sharing information in this regard, SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan said that the SGPC is marking the 150th anniversary of the foundation of Sri Guru Singh Sabha Movement with Khalsa traditions and Panthic grandeur. In this regard, the main congregation will be held at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on October 1. He said this event will be specially attended by the Jathedars of Takht Sahibs, granthis of Sachkhand Sri Harmandir Sahib, leaders of Sikh organizations, sampradas, Nihang Singh organizations and SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami. On this occasion, Panth renowned raagi, dhadi and kavishar jathas (poetry and balladeer groups) will introduce the congregation to the glorious history of Sri Guru Singh Sahib movement. He said that on this occasion, a painting exhibition has also been organized to describe the history, which will be kept on display till the end of the event.
