Amritsar, March 19: As part of the maintenance sewa (voluntary service) of golden plates and minakari (inset work of painting) at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, the central religious place of the Sikh community, golden plates were refitted inside the sanctum sanctorum of the shrine today. The sewa was handed over by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) to Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha (GNNSJ), Birmingham, UK, which carried out the necessary repair work.

After ardas (Sikh prayer), head granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, SGPC members Paramjit Singh Khalsa, Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, Bhagwant Singh Sialka, head of GNNSJ Bhai Mohinder Singh and SGPC secretary Partap Singh arrived at Sikh shrine with golden plates and started the sewa of fitting them with devotion.

SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami said that preservation works are done from time to time for golden plates and frescos at Sri Harmandar Sahib and accordingly the service has been assigned to Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha by the SGPC.

He said the golden plates are affected due to moisture, which are being prepared/repaired and re-fitted as before. Similarly, the work of maintaining the minakari is also being done. He said that during this sewa, the work has been done meticulously by recording video of the minakari and golden plates. He appreciated the devotional services rendered by Guru Nanak Nishkam Sewak Jatha.

Meanwhile, GNNSJ head Bhai Mohinder Singh said that it is the mercy of the Guru that they got sewa of the Guru house. He also thanked the Sangat for their support.

Present on this occasion included Giani Raghbir Singh, Bhai Inderjit Singh, Baba Satnam Singh Qila Anandgarh Sahib, OSD Satbir Singh Dhami, additional secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, manager Satnam Singh Mangasarai, and other key officials.
