S. Harjinder Singh, high priest Giani Jagtar Singh unveil portraits

Amritsar, June 14:

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today displayed the portraits of former head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Bhagwan Singh and Qaumi Shaheed Bhai Dilawar Singh at Central Sikh Museum, situated inside Sri Darbar Sahib Complex. The portraits of both the personalities were unveiled by SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh and additional head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, Giani Jagtar Singh.

Addressing this occasion, after the Gurbani Kirtan and ardas (prayer), Advocate S. Harjinder Singh said that keeping in view their services, the portraits of Shaheed Bhai Dilawar Singh and Giani Bhagwan Singh are displayed at Central Sikh Museum.

“Shaheed Bhai Dilawar Singh had put an end to the atrocities and gross human right violations committed against the Sikhs then. The decision of sacrificing self is not possible without the Guru’s blessing and whenever atrocities were committed on the Qaum (community/nation), Sikhs have  always made history by making sacrifices”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

Meanwhile, S. Harjinder Singh termed the Panthak services of Giani Bhagwan Singh for the Qaum as important.

On this occasion, additional head granthi Giani Jagtar Singh said that Qaum always remembered those who gave sacrifice for the community and played an important role in preaching the Sikh faith and such Qaumi personalities are respected by displaying their portraits at Central Sikh Museum.

The family members of Shaheed Bhai Dilawar Singh and Giani Bhagwan Singh were honoured with the Siropaos (robes of honour) by the SGPC President.

Those present on this occasion included former Jathedar Giani Gurbachan Singh, SGPC executive member S. Balwinder Singh, S. Amarjit Singh, member Bhai Manjit Singh, Advocate S. Bhagwant Singh, Prof Baljinder Singh, Bhai Bakhshish Singh head of Akhand Keertani Jatha, S. Mahanbir Singh Sultanwind, Bapu Gurcharan Singh, brother of General Shabeg Singh S. Beant Singh, S. Kanwarpal Singh Bittu, Dr. Paramjit Singh, S. Manjit Singh Bhoma, Bhai Satnam Singh, manager S. Baghel Singh, S. Sukhraj Singh, S. Satnam Singh and other officials.
