Amritsar, April 4:

Expressing grave concern on the racist attacks on Sikhs in United States of America (USA), the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has urged the Gurdwara management committees and the Sikh leaders in USA to raise their voice strongly against these incidents.

Advocate Dhami said it is highly unfortunate that a 75-year-old elderly Sikh S. Nirmal Singh has been attacked by miscreants at Queens, Richmond Hill, New York and strict action should be taken against the culprits. He urged the USA-based Sikh organisations to come forward to ensure punishment to the culprits of this incident so that no one would dare to commit such a crime in future.

SGPC President said that the Punjabis, especially the Sikhs have made a great contribution to the progress of the USA and the Sikhs have great respect for the people of every community.

“At the time of crisis, the Sikhs carry out public welfare services on humanitarian grounds from the Gurdwaras, but sadly, Sikhs who seek the welfare of all are being subjected to hateful violence”, said Advocate Dhami.

He said that the SGPC has written to the Government of India several times regarding the racial attacks on Sikhs abroad and even the general house meetings of SGPC have also passed resolutions and sent them to the government.

“The Government of India should take up these issues with the concerned governments of the foreign countries and ensure the safety of Sikhs abroad”, said Advocate Dhami.
