Amritsar, May 24:

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh, Chairman of the 11-member Joint Panthak Committee formed for the release of Bandi Singhs (Sikh political prisoners) on the directions of Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, has sought the appointments for meeting from the Prime Minister (PM) Shri Narendra Modi, Home Minister (HM) Shri Amit Shah and Chief Ministers (CMs) of Delhi and Karnataka states.

The decision to meet the PM and HM was taken in the first meeting of the 11-member committee held at the SGPC office on May 19.

Following the decision of the Joint Panthak Committee, the SGPC President has written to PM Shri Narendra Modi, HM Shri Amit Shah, Delhi CM Shri Arvind Kejriwal, and Karnataka CM Shri Basavaraj Bommai, asking them to give time at the earliest to meet.

Meanwhile, S. Harjinder Singh said that in due course to discuss the issue of release of Bandi Singhs, all the 11-members of the Joint Panthak Committee would together meet the Prime Minister, Home Minister, and concerned Chief Ministers, after getting the time. He said a list of all the 11-members has also been sent along with the letters sent for the appointment.

SGPC President said the time has been sought for meeting from the Prime Minister and Home Minister within 15 days while the Chief Ministers of Delhi and Karnataka have been written to confirm the meeting at the earliest.
