SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh honours him at information center, Sri Darbar Sahib

Amritsar, June 15: British High Commissioner to India Alex Ellis and Deputy High Commissioner Caroline Rowett today expressed their devotion and paid obeisance with their families at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib.

On their arrival at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, the British diplomats were honoured at the information center, Sri Darbar Sahib by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh with the Siropoas (robes of honour), a golden model of Sri Harmandar Sahib and religious books.

British High Commissioner Alex Ellis while listened to the Gurbani Kirtan (hymn singing) while having Darshan (glimpse) of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib, he also saw the food being prepared at Langar (community kitchen), Sri Guru Ramdas Ji and served too. The British diplomats expressed happiness on knowing the fact that thousands of people eat food simultaneously at Langar, Sri Guru Ramdas Ji.

On this occasion, British High Commissioner Alex Ellis and Deputy High Commissioner Caroline Rowett said that they are happy to arrive at this sacred place. They appreciated the services done by Sikhs for humanity and termed the visit to Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib as commemorative and thanked the SGPC President for the honour on their arrival here.

Alex Ellis wrote in the visitor’s book, “Its honour to be received in this beautiful, deeply spiritual place, visited by tens of thousands of people every day, from all over the world including my country. Thank you for your hospitality to me and to my colleagues.”

Caroline Rowett wrote, “Thank you for such an informative visit to such a stunning centre of religion and respect.”

The diplomats were given information about Sri Darbar Sahib and other historical places inside the complex besides the Sikh traditions by the information officer S. Jaswinder Singh.
