Chief Minister Punjab should immediately give time for meeting sub-committee of Sri Akal Takht Sahib- Advocate Sialka

Amritsar, March 11- The sub-committee formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to resolve the issue of hunger strike by Bhai Amritpal Singh and other Sikhs detained in Central Jail Dibrugarh and their family members has asked Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann, to immediately take action on a request made on March 9, 2024, to give time for a meeting till March 13, 2024.

In this regard, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) member Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka said that even after three days have passed, no contact has been made with the sub-committee by the Punjab government or any government official. He said that this committee has been formed by Sri Akal Takht Sahib to resolve the issues of detained Sikhs in a meaningful way by talking to the governments and Punjab Chief Minister Shri Bhagwant Mann should give an immediate time for meeting.

Advocate Sialka said that due to the lack of any response from the government for a long time on this sensitive issue and realizing the apathy of the government, the sub-committee members have written again today on March 11 to remind the government to take up this matter understanding its seriousness He said that detained Sikhs and their family members are on hunger strike and their health deteriorating every day. Advocate Sialka said that sadly the government has remained silent in a conspiratorial manner, while the government should seriously open the way for dialogue so that the issue can be resolved.

Notably, on March 6, 2024, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Giani Raghbir Singh, formed a sub-committee comprised of SGPC junior vice president Gurbaksh Singh Khalsa, general secretary Bhai Rajinder Singh Mehta, member Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka, Dr Sukhpreet Singh Udoke and Ajmer Singh, to resolve the issue of hunger strike by the Sikhs detained Dibrugarh and their families.
