Amritsar, February 21:

To commemorate the martyrs of Saka (massacre) Nankana Sahib that took place in 1921, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organised a Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on Monday.

On this occasion, following the bhog (culmination) of Sri Akhand Path Sahib, jatha of Bhai Jagtar Singh Rajpura connected the Sangat with Gurbani Kirtan and kathawachak (narrator) Bhai Harmitar Singh shared the Gurmat views.

Paying homage to the martyrs of Saka Nankana Sahib, Bhai Harmitar Singh said the determination and courage shown by the Sikhs warriors, to liberate the birthplace of the first Guru, Gurdwara Nankana Sahib from the control of so-called Mahants, proved to be the foundation stone for organising the Sikh Qaum (community). He said that it is imperative today to take guidance from these great martyrs of the Qaum to set priorities for the future of the community and especially for the Sikh youth, to carry out their future responsibilities towards the Sikh faith, it is important to guard the Sikh history and Gurmat principles.

Those present during the event included SGPC additional secretary S. Partap Singh, manager Sri Darbar Sahib S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, superintendent S. Malkit Singh Beharwal, manager S. Baghel Singh, supervisor S. Kabal Singh, S. Kunan Singh, and more.
