Portrait of Prof Kartar Singh to be displayed at Central Sikh Museum: S Harjinder Singh Dhami

Prominent personalities attended Antim Ardas of Prof Kartar Singh

Amritsar/Ludhiana, January 7:

The Antim Ardas samagam for master of Gurmat Sangeet, Padma Shri Prof Kartar Singh was held at Gurdwara Sri Guru Singh Sabha, Model Town Extension, Ludhiana on Friday.

Prominent personalities including head granthi of Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President S. Harjinder Singh Dhami, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh paid warm tributes to Prof Kartar Singh.

Addressing the Sangat (congregation) on this occasion, SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh said that the demise of Shiromani master of Gurmat Sangeet is an unbearable loss to the Sikh Panth (community). He said Prof Kartar Singh made tireless efforts to flourish the art of Gurmat Sangeet. He said SGPC is committed to keeping the warm memory of Prof Kartar Singh existing forever.

“Gurmat Sangeet Academy, Sri Anandpur Sahib will be named after the name of Prof Kartar Singh and the students taking the education of Gurmat Sangeet here will become efficient in puratan (old) Kirtan technique after learning from the work done by Prof Kartar Singh. A portrait of Prof Kartar Singh will also be displayed at Central Sikh Museum”, said S. Harjinder Singh Dhami.

On this occasion, Giani Jagtar Singh, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh, and head of Jawaddi Taksal Baba Amir Singh also appreciated the simple life and efforts of flourishing the art of traditional old Gurbani Kirtan by Prof Kartar Singh.

Advocate Amarjit Singh, Amritpal Singh, sons of Prof Kartar Singh, and son of his late son Inderpal Singh were offered turbans by all the prominent personalities who attended the congregation.
