SGPC President appeals to all political parties to oppose this decision with unity

Amritsar, March 28:

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami has strongly condemned the decision of implementing Centre government’s civil service rules on the employees of Chandigarh, which is settled on the land of Punjab.

SGPC President Advocate Dhami termed the announcement made by Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his visit to Chandigarh of implementing central civil services rules to all the employees of Chandigarh administration, as another major robbery on the rights of Punjab.

In a press statement issued from SGPC office on Monday, Advocate Dhami said that Chandigarh is situated on the valuable land of the villages of Punjab, therefore, only Punjab has its right on the city.

“This recent decision of the Centre is a violation of the Punjab Reorganisation Act, 1966 and it is clear that to do so under a serious conspiracy is to pave the way for imposition of officers from outside Punjab on Chandigarh. This decision clearly shows the anti-Punjab intentions of the Government of India”, said Advocate Dhami.

SGPC President said that the from time to time the governments of the country have done injustice with the Punjab, especially the Sikhs and the announcement made by Union home minister is a sign of another injustice in this series.

“It is a matter related to the rights and interests of Punjab and therefore, all the political parties should oppose this decision with unity”, said Advocate Dhami.

He added that the SGPC strongly opposes this decision and will play a leading role in the struggle against this anti-Punjab decision. SGPC President said that the Centre government should step back from this dictatorial decision and should refrain from making policies that oppress Punjab.
