Sangat should largely attend concluding congregations of 400th birth centenary: S. Harjinder Singh

Dedicated to 401st Parkash Purb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji, the ninth Guru, a Nagar Kirtan (religious procession) was decorated and carried out from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to birthplace of the Guru, Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal today. Head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh, prominent personalities, SGPC members, officials, representatives of Singh Sabha Societies and a large number of Sangat expressed their devotion and reverence by participating in the Nagar Kirtan.

On this occasion, Gatka parties showed talent of Sikh Martial Arts and band parties were seen ushering the Nagar Kirtan with different tunes.

Congratulating the Sangat, SGPC President said that last year 400th Parkash Purb of the ninth Guru was celebrated and this year, SGPC is celebrating the concluding congregations as per the Panthak traditions. He said a large Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) is being organised in the morning at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on April 21, in which, the granthi Singhs, saints, representatives of Nihang Singh Jathebandis, Sabha Societies and prominent personalities will participate in large number. He appealed to the Sangat to participate in this congregation.

SGPC President said that the life of ninth Guru and his martyrdom is an example of protection of Dharma (righteousness) and the governments taking inspiration from the same, should enact such a law which ensures strict punishments to the culprits who attack on anybody’s religious freedom and disrespect the religious symbols.

Those present in the Nagar Kirtan included SGPC members Bhai Rajinder Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Ram Singh, and Bhai Ajaib Singh, Baba Satnam Singh of Qila Anandgarh, head granthi Bhai Malkit Singh, SGPC secretary S. Mohinder Singh, manager of Sri Darbar Sahib S. Sulakhan Singh, superintendent S. Malkit Singh and others.

Bus displaying Shastars of Guru Sahib

The Sangat interestingly had a glimpse of Shastars of the Guru Sahib displayed in a special bus outside Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on the occasion of concluding congregations dedicated to the 400th Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Tegh Bahadur Ji. Notably, this bus has been specially brought from Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib.
