Punjab government should focus on preservation of Heritage Street

Amritsar, April 11:  Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh following the ardas (prayer) today inaugurated the newly built two-wheeler parking with capacity of managing 1,500 vehicles of Sangat arriving at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib. This parking lot has been built in the basement of the new building in front of Secretariat, Sri Akal Takht Sahib and its Sewa was handed over by the SGPC to Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale.

Speaking on this occasion, Advocate S. Harjinder Singh said the Sikh body, SGPC, constantly works for the convenience of the Sangat and under the same initiative, a large vehicle parking lot has been built.

He said the parking area is 20,000 square feet and it has the capacity of managing 1,200 to 1,500 two-wheelers. He also honoured Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale with Siropao (robe of honour) and thanked him for completing the work in time.

To a query, S. Harjinder Singh said the ignorance of the Punjab government towards Heritage Street In Front Of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib is not good and if the government cannot maintain it, it should hand over the management to SGPC.

“Last Congress government adopted complete ignorance towards maintaining Heritage Street and we appeal to the incumbent government to pay attention towards this issue”, said S. Harjinder Singh. SGPC President also demanded that the incumbent Punjab government should also widen the passages leading towards Sri Harmandar Sahib from Sultanwind Gate and Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Deep Singh side and give them a Sikh heritage look.
