Amritsar, April 20- The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) has termed the propaganda by Harmeet Singh Kalka, President of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) as misleading, about the expenses of the events held in Delhi by the SGPC dedicated to the third birth centenary of the Sikh General, Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia.

SGPC’s Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) Secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan said that DSGMC President and General Secretary Jagdeep Singh are hastily spreading false propaganda against SGPC to please their political masters. He said that these leaders were themselves present at the start of the Khalsa Fateh March from Gurdwara Sri Rakabganj Sahib on April 16. He said that the enthusiasm among the Sangat towards the Khalsa Fateh March in Delhi can be ascertained from the fact that this march started at 10:00 am in the morning and concluded at its phase in Fateh Nagar at 11:00 pm.

DPC secretary said that the SGPC is the foremost Sikh body, which is fulfilling its responsibilities well. He said that it is the duty of the organization to celebrate the centenaries related to Sikh history, which is being performed well in the 100-year journey of the organisation.

Balwinder Singh Kahlwan said that it seems that Harmeet Singh Kalka is deliberately trying to create confusion among the Sikhs for political interests. Being the head of an organization, it is not appropriate for him to politicize the centenary days of the great warriors and the work done for the propagation of religion, he said.

Rejecting Harmeet Singh Kalka’s claim of spending Rs 3 crore in the Delhi events, DPC secretary Balwinder Singh Kahlwan appealed to the Sangat to be aware of this misleading propaganda. He asked Kalka to present evidence of expenses of Rs 3 crore, or else issue a public apology.

DPC Secretary Balwinder Singh clarified that the Sangat and devotees have played a major role in celebrating the centenary of the Sikh general, Sardar Jassa Singh Ramgarhia. “Only necessary expenses have been incurred by the Sikh body, SGPC, which is the responsibility of the supreme Sikh body”, he said.

He also termed Kalka’s statement about less Sangat in the events as a merely political one and said that reality does not need proof as all the programs were published live on several channels to facilitate the Sangat. The DPC Secretary said that Kalka seems unhappy due to the low attendance of Sangat in the events held by DSGMC.

He said the DSGMC events were more influenced by the government, so the Sangat did not cooperate and the SGPC organised events as per the sentiments of the Sangat.
