Under preparations of congregation, SGPC President holds meeting with pracharaks of Dharam Prachar Committee

Amritsar, April 12:

Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh held a special meeting with the pracharaks (preachers) of Dharam Prachar Committee and officials of SGPC on Monday, with regards to preparations of concluding congregation of 400th Parkash Purb (birth anniversary) of Sri Guru Teg Bahadar Ji.

This Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) will be organised at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on the occasion of Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Teg Bahadar Ji on April 21, 2022.

On one hand, SGPC President held a meeting with SGPC officials regarding preparations of the congregation and on the other, he also urged the pracharaks of Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) to apprise the Sangat about this event.

S. Harjinder Singh said the events related to the 400th Parkash Purb centenary of the ninth Sikh Guru will be memorable. He said before the main congregation on April 21, Sri Akhand Path Sahib will be started at the ninth Guru’s birthplace Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal and Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, and their bhog (concluding ceremony) will be held on April 21. On April 20, a Nagar Kirtan (religious procession) will be organised from Sri Akal Takht Sahib to Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal and a special Kirtan Darbar will be organised at Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal on the same evening.

He said main Gurmat Samagam will be held at Gurdwara Manji Sahib Diwan Hall on April 21, where raagi, dhadi, kavishar groups will connect the Sangat with Gurbani and the history and prominent personalities of the Sikh Panth will attend the congregation.

SGPC President added that during this occasion, the holy sashtars (arms and relics) of Sri Guru Teg Bahadar Ji would be displayed in a special bus for the Sangat to have their glimpse near Gurdwara Manji Sahib. He added that following the prayers of Sodar Rehras Sahib at Sri Harmandar Sahib, fireworks and deepmala (lighting lamps) would be held on April 21. He appealed to the Sangat to attend the congregations to be organised on the occasion of Parkash Purb of Sri Guru Teg Bahadar Ji with their family members in large numbers.

Those present in the meeting included SGPC senior vice-president S. Raghujit Singh, DPC member Bhai Ajaib Singh, secretary S. Mohinder Singh, additional secretary S. Partap Singh, S. Sukhminder Singh, OSD to SGPC President S. Satbir Singh, DPC assistant secretary S. Tejinder Singh, in-charge S. Shahbaz Singh, S. Kartar Singh, and a large number of pracharaks.
