SGPC constantly working for convenience of Sangat: Advocate S. Harjinder Singh

Amritsar, April 11:  In view of the increasing influx of the Sangat (pilgrims) at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib and to expand the stay arrangement for them, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) laid the foundation stone of another sarai (inn) on Monday.

The new sarai will be built at Kesri Bagh in the name of Bhagat Namdev Ji and its Kar Sewa (voluntary service) has been entrusted upon Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale.

On the occasion of laying the foundation stone of Bhagat Namdev Ji Niwas those present included SGPC President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh, additional head granthi of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib Giani Jagtar Singh Ludhiana, Baba Kashmir Singh Bhuriwale and other prominent personalities.

Speaking on this occasion, SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said a large number of Sangat visit to pay obeisance at Sri Harmandar Sahib and SGPC constantly works for making stay arrangement for them.

“Foundation stone of Bhagat Namdev Ji Niwas has been laid at Kesri Bagh near Fuara Chowk. This sarai will be an eight-storey building including basement, having 91 rooms and seven halls”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

SGPC President said that the construction is already ongoing for two more sarais which will soon be made functional in the service of the Sangat. He said SGPC is constantly making efforts to expand the stay arrangement for the Sangat, a sub-committee is formed for the same which will identify different lands and submit its report. He said that considering the report of the sub-committee, efforts will be made to construct more sarais.
