First meeting of joint meeting at SGPC office on May 19: S. Harjinder Singh 
Amritsar, May 16: For carrying forward joint Panthak efforts for the release of Sikh prisoners lodged in different Indian jails, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh has formed a nine-member joint committee. This committee is comprised of different Panthak leaders.
On the orders of Sri Akal Takht Sahib, SGPC had convened the Panthak Convention at the historic Teja Singh Samundri Hall on May 11, in which, SGPC President was given rights unanimously to form a joint committee.
Following this, SGPC President has now announced the formation of this joint committee.
The nine-member joint committee include SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh, Shiromani Akali Dal President S. Sukhbir Singh Badal, Shiromani Akali Dal Amritsar President S. Simranjeet Singh Mann, Head of Damdami Taksal Baba Harnam Singh Khalsa on behalf of Sant Samaj, Head of Tarna Dal Harian Vela Baba Nihal Singh on behalf of Nihang Singh jathebandis (organisations), Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) President S. Harmeet Singh Kalka, Shiromani Akali Dal Delhi President S. Paramjit Singh Sarna, former DSGMC President S. Manjit Singh GK, and Sikh preacher Baba Baljit Singh Daduwal.
SGPC President S. Harjinder Singh said, “To make joint Panthak efforts for the release of Sikh prisoners, for the time being, a nine-member joint committee has been formed, which will work in support of organisations and personalities active for the release of Sikh prisoners.” He said the suggestions received from the Sikh jathebandis will also be respected and committee would be expanded if need be.
SGPC President said the first meeting of joint committee has been called at Amritsar on May 19, which will take place at the SGPC’s meeting hall at its office at 12 noon.
