Books published under Sikh Source Historical Granth Editing Project

Three books on the life of Sri Guru Gobind Singh, the tenth Sikh Guru (master) were released on Thursday by Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami, as part of the research work of Sikh Source Historical Granth Editing Project (SSHGEP) under the management of Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) of SGPC.

Releasing books at the SGPC office, Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said that SSHGEP was started by Dharam Prachar Committee under the leadership of late Dr Kirpal Singh in 2001, with a purpose to edit the primary sources of Sikh history in the light of Gurmat (teachings of Sikh Gurus). He said considering the popularity of Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth among the Sikh community, 21 books on the life history of Sikh Gurus, from Guru Nanak Dev Ji to Guru Tegh Bahadar Ji, have been published under the decision of editing this primary source of Sikh history. He said now under the same series, three more books have been published on the life of Guru Gobind Singh by DPC.

He said the common readers and research scholars will be able to benefit from the translation of the important events related to the life of Guru Gobind Singh described in Sri Gur Pratap Suraj Granth written by Mahankavi Bhai Santokh Singh, an important source of Sikh history.

The SGPC President appreciated the work of the entire team of SSHGEP for this research work.
