COVID-19 testing camp for pilgrims at SGPC office on April 9 & 10

Amritsar, April 6:

To participate in the Samagams (congregations) to be organised at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib, Hassana Abdal in Pakistan on the occasion of Khalsa Sajna Diwas (Vaisakhi), the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will send the jatha (group) of Sikh pilgrims on April 12, which will return to India on April 21.

Notably, earlier the jatha of Sikh pilgrims was scheduled for a visit to the Gurdhams (Sikh shrines) in Pakistan from April 11 to April 20, but the schedule was changed.

Giving information in this regard, SGPC secretary S. Mohinder Singh said that the jatha of Sikh pilgrims will depart for Pakistan on April 12 to participate in the main congregation of Khalsa Sajna Diwas at Gurdwara Sri Panja Sahib on April 14.

About the itinerary of the jatha of Sikh pilgrims, S. Mohinder Singh said the jatha will reach Sri Panja Sahib on April 12 and after participating in the main congregation at Sri Panja Sahib on April 14, it will depart for Sri Nankana Sahib. After paying obeisance at Sri Nankana Sahib on April 15, the jatha will reach Gurdwara Sacha Sauda Sahib on April 16. Following this, the Sikh jatha will visit Gurdwara Dehra Sahib, Lahore on April 17 and 18 and Gurdwara Sri Darbar Sahib, Sri Kartarpur Sahib on April 19 and Gurdwara Rorhi Sahib at Eminabad on April 20. The Sikh jatha will return to India after paying obeisance at Sikh shrines on April 21.

S. Mohinder Singh said in view of COVID-19 pandemic, it is mandatory for the pilgrims to adhere to the guidelines of the health department.

“Both doses of vaccines against COVID-19 are mandatory for the pilgrims going to Pakistan besides COVID-19 negative report 72 hours prior departure and the SGPC is making arrangements for the same”, said S. Mohinder Singh.

He said that SGPC in coordination with the health department is organising a COVID-19 testing camp at SGPC office in Amritsar on April 9 and 10 and those pilgrims going to Pakistan with the Sikh jatha can get their test conducted during this camp. He added that the pilgrims can get their COVID-19 test conducted at their own level as well and they should come with COVID-19 negative report of the test conducted 72 hours prior to departing for Pakistan on April 12.
