Amritsar, December 23:

The sentiments of the Sikh Sangat (community) are being hurt with the playing of clips of viral videos by the television (TV) channels during their debates related to the unfortunate incident of sacrilege at Sri Harmandar Sahib, Sri Darbar Sahib, said S. Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, Additional Secretary, Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee, Sri Amritsar, in a press statement issued on Thursday.

S. Sukhdev Singh said, “Sri Harmandar Sahib is a holy shrine of devotion and reverence not only for the Sikh community but the entire humanity, where millions of pilgrims offer their faith every day. The highly deplorable act committed by an evil person in this holy place on December 18 has hurt the religious sentiments of the devout across the world.”

“Repeatedly playing the clips from viral videos during the debates and discussions related to this incident by the TV channels is hurting the minds of the Sikh community. SGPC has no objection to the channels discussing this issue but it is not appropriate to play the clips over and over again as it is related to the sentiments of the Sangat”, said S. Sukhdev Singh.

S. Sukhdev Singh appealed to the editors and representatives of various media and TV channels not to play these clips in view of the sentiments of the Sangat.
