Amritsar, March 25: Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) started the Kar Sewa (voluntary service) of Gurdwara Barah Maha Sahib situated at the complex of Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib with Panthak tradition. This shrine is situated just outside Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, where pillars will be erected to develop its roof and it will be protected by installing the glass frames.
Moreover, the construction work of a sarai (inn) was also inaugurated today at Gurdwara Shaheed Baba Basant Singh, Chowk Pragdas at Sri Amritsar. On this occasion, dignitaries of Kar Sewa along with SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami and other prominent personalities were also present. The Kar Sewas were started after the ardas (prayer).
SGPC President Advocate Harjinder Singh Dhami said both these works of Kar Sewa have been handed over to Baba Bachan Singh Kar Sewa Delhi. He said SGPC is the Panthak body, working to upkeep the historical shrines and it is working continuously for the convenience of the Sangat. He added that new sarais are being constructed keeping in view the large influx of Sangat at Sachkhand Sri Harmandar Sahib. A new sarai is being constructed at Chowk Pragdas, which will have 150 rooms and five halls.
Speaking about Gurdwara Barah Maha Sahib, SGPC President said this shrine is situated near Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall, around which a glass frame will be installed. On this occasion, SGPC President lauded the Panthak services being done by Kar Sewa dignitaries and expressed the commitment of SGPC to continue the Panthak services jointly with the Kar Sewa bodies.
