Amritsar, March 26:
Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) Dharam Prachar Committee (DPC) distributed cheques of scholarships to Amritdhari (initiated) students of its education institutions. The scholarships have been given to the students of the session 2021-22.
On the instructions of SGPC President Harjinder Singh Dhami, the scholarship cheques were distributed to students by DPC members Bhai Ajaib Singh, S. Sukhwarsh Singh, S. Rampal Singh, S. Avtar Singh, S. Tejinderpal Singh, S. Manjit Singh, SGPC secretary S. Mohinder Singh, additional secretary S. Partap Singh, S. Paramjit Singh and OSD to SGPC President S. Satbir Singh.
DPC additional secretary S. Paramjit Singh said that every year, the DPC gives scholarships to Amritdhari students, under which, the students of up to Class X are given an amount of Rs 3,500, of Class XI and XII Rs 5,000, for graduate level Rs 8,000 and for post-graduate level Rs 10,000. He added that for the session of year 2021-22, the DPC will distributed scholarship amount of nearly Rs 2 crore to Amritdhari students of 78 schools/colleges running under SGPC management. He added that the scholarship cheques have been given to 11 schools/colleges of Amritsar and Gurdaspur districts on Friday.
S. Paramjit Singh said SGPC is the Sikh Panth’s great organisation, which is playing a big role in the field of preaching the Sikh faith, along with managing the Gurdwara Sahibs. He said that to motivate the Sikh students, DPC gives scholarships to Amritdhari students every year and the motive of these scholarships is to make an effort to connect the students to Gurbani and Sikh history. He appealed to the parents to come forward to connect the children with Gursikhi.
Those present on this occasion included assistant secretary S. Gurmeet Singh, Superintendent S. Malkit Singh, S. Palwinder Singh, in-charge S. Shahbaz Singh and others.
