Amritsar, April 28:

A high-level delegation of Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) today met Uttarakhand Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S. Gurmit Singh to discuss the issue of Gurdwara Gian Godrhi Sahib, Haridwar and submitted a memorandum demanding an early resolution to the long-pending issue.

The SGPC delegation included Senior Vice-President S. Raghujit Singh, General Secretary S. Karnail Singh, SGPC member S. Rajinder Singh, SGPC’s Sikh Mission Raipur, Chhattisgarh in-charge S. Gurmit Singh, and Sikh leader from Vishakhapatnam S. Dilshah Singh.

The delegation leaders appealed to Uttarakhand Governor to intervene for resolving the issue of Gurdwara Gian Godrhi Sahib.

Giving information in this regard, S. Raghujit Singh said, “SGPC is serious about the issue of Gurdwara Gian Godrhi Sahib and making constant efforts for the resolution of this issue. We met Uttarakhand Governor and demanded from him that Gurdwara Gian Godrhi Sahib at Har Ki Paurhi, Haridwar should be established again, so that, the issue of this historical shrine of Sikh Qaum (nation) could be resolved as per Sikh sentiments.”

S. Raghujit Singh added that taking the SGPC’s demand seriously, the Uttarakhand Governor has assured to resolve this issue at the earliest.

Meanwhile, the SGPC delegation also honoured Uttarakhand’s Governor Lt. Gen. (Retd) S. Gurmit Singh.

Notably, SGPC in the past has made several appeals to the Government of India and concerned state governments by sending resolutions passed in its general house sessions demanding a resolution to the issue of Gurdwara Gian Godrhi Sahib at the earliest. Apart from this, several leaders of SGPC have met the Prime Minister of India, Home Minister, and Chief Ministers of concerned states, while demanding to resolve this issue.
