Amritsar, April 29:  Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) President Advocate S. Harjinder Singh strongly condemned the incident at Patiala and termed it as the failure of Punjab government.

SGPC President said the Police administration did not fulfill its due responsibility by ignoring the root cause of this incident, which led to a huge protest among the Sikh Sangat.

“When a Shiv Sena leader made anti-Sikh inflammatory remarks, action should have been taken against him well in time”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

He said some people are constantly attempting to disturb peace in Punjab and to make the atmosphere tense, but the state government is not sincere in stopping them.

“Some people have a habit to be active in raising the Hindu Sikh issue but the Sikhs respect all the religions as per the Guru’s teachings of universal communion. The government should take action against those people who want to create divisions in the society in the name of religion and crack down on them”, said S. Harjinder Singh.

SGPC President said that the Sikhs never go against any religion but they always strive to help every religion in time of need.

“But when some anti-social elements deliberately make inflammatory statements against the Sikhs, the atmosphere is bound to turn bitter. The government should crack down on those people who make provocative and inflammatory statements so that the atmosphere in the state remains peaceful”, said S. Harjinder Singh.
